Day 1 - Brunei to KK

14/4/2011. Thursday

Early in the Morning I try the self check in kiosk and get my boarding pass. Previously i always use the counter.. now it is faster.. I just need to verify my travel document and get my boarding pass stamped and the weight my cabin bag which I forgot to but still lepas.. I board the plane at 6:45am and arrived at 9:05 am. The BSB arrival area is very low key, it look like Alor Setar terminal.. I change my RM520 to Brunei $ 208(rate of $1 to Rm2.50). Try to find the bus but to no avail. (Later I learned that the bus is upstairs). I took a taxi to muara ferry station and it cost me a freakin B$40. Thats almost double the price of my flight ticket. From muara, I took a boat/bus combo ticket for B$32. at 10.00am I board a very old boat with 4 foreigners and 2 locals .. The boat (seri muara) rides through the rainforest river where we cold see birds and houses that is built on the river.. Later it stopped at Lawas where I had to stamped my passport. I still question it though.. why should a malaysian stamped passport in Malaysia . I took a taxi transfer (free) to the bus station , had simple lunch there and from there took a bus at 1230 to KK that took almost 4 hours via beaufort and penampang. I read my photography magazine and watch Ong Bak 3 and fantasize about cute sumandaks to kill the time.
I arrive Kota Kinabalu near Kg Air at about 4. Call my friend and he didnt know where i was so he ask me to find centerpoint.. I found it and wait for him at the McD. I thought he was not coming so I took a taxi for Rm30 to 1 Borneo tune hotel. Just when I board the taxi he call me saying that hes on the way. I said no problem we can meet at tune hotel 1 borneo.. I plan to stay there but the rate is expensive for Rm80 since I made last minute booking. My friend offer me to stay at this place instead which I agree. I walk around 1 borneo looking for diapers for his kid and later had a tea near some college with SYT. Then I went to his house and meet his wife and lil daughter. He show me his custom wedding album which is freaking huge.. and like it.. it had a magazine like pesona pengantin cover in front of it. Told me he spend Rm1k for it.. its cheap 1 think for that big ass album.

Then at night he bring me to Pasar Phillipine and the waterfront which had night club where girls in skimpy outfit sings justin beiber song. We had lunch at tomyam somewhere. I shouldve eaten fresh seafood at pasar phillipine.. The udang is fuckin besaq i tell you. My fren wants to bring me to his ship but I'm too tired for that so I asked him to return home..then I sleep soundly.
