New laptop

Finally after much thinking I purchase a new laptop today.. The one I'm writing this blog post with. I actually shouldve purchase it last week. the price have increase by RM100 this week but I happily pay for it since who knows that the price might increase more in the future.

I install windows 7 64 bit and all the drivers at the office to take advantage of the 64 bit processor and also to experiment with adobe primiere and after effect 64 via proxy. Done it at the office.

I pay rm1100 for the Asus K437 laptop with amd brazos dual core e450 1.65ghz , 500gb hdd and 4 gb ram (free 2gb upgrade for free-- yay. I plan to use this laptop to demo footage to my clients and also do some work on the road using proxy files. I buy the laptop at the usual place - lowyat plaza.. my 2nd home :)

I notice that the full hd playback is quite slow and it shouldnt be given the current state of technology. Turns out that 64 bit windows must use 64 bit software and codec. 32 bit apps will be executed by emulatin thus make it real slow. I hope in the near future windows will release only 64 bit os, forcing all the software maker to make 64 bit apps. Apple already did it with lion.
