Finally after months of waiting Malaysian are able to get their hands on iPhone 4 courtesy of Maxis and Digi. I heard people qued for hours to get the iphone at Gardens on Friday (yanaF) and also at Quill Automobile PJ (fariq-free rebate rm100 for any phone recycled).
Me? I got my iPhone on 26 September, Sunday at Digi Time Square. I try to fight the feeling for two days but in the end I was defeated. Hyped got the best of me. I try to get it at Digi Store Pandan a day earlier but failed due to system down.
Thus early Sunday Morning I went to BTS and pick a que number at 10.45 am. 3 hours later at 1.45pm I got my iphone after paying RM2090 via credit card. To kill the time I went to mc donald, sony style, macstore and do some window shopping. They cut my digi simcard to microsim for free and terminated my fucking rare exclusive ambassador line (sorry and thank you anuar) because according to him, conversion to idigi is hard.
So I'm a proud new owner of Ihype. I bought a silicion casing, (tipu- said to be leather) for the ovepriced expensive RM100.I should've got a cheaper casing at any kedai tepi jalan.
Back at home I starts downloading free apps and books. Theres a lot of useful free apps and books on wifi. My digi line is offline for almost 5 hours. I had to call my friend by landline to inform him how to meet me.
I played with Ihype for a week during my oustation in Alor Setar. The retina display while looking sharp is not as wonderful as I expected. I still cant figure out how to test facetime since none of my friend got iphone 4.
The HDR camera is good since it captures images and renders its better, but we should not expect it to look like dreamy hdr we saw on the webs. I love mobile safari and I used it a lot. Its easy to browse with pinch zoom, double tap to fit column and the easy tab navigation. Mail also works with my office OWAS and my gmail. The only problem is the short battery life. It only can last about a day. No wonder my friend at the office always charge his iPhone whenever he had the chance. I also love the easy tehtering which is blazing fast on 3g at Mergong. At Tmn Mahsuri I can only get gprs speed which is crap but stil I can browse some site slowly.
My free apps recommendation:
morelomo
fb/sq/twitter
ibook
iquran. iqibla - nice compas and maps integration
RMaker
waze
colorsplash/lenses
I bought two paid apps - wooble (naughty me!) and doodle jump (fkin addictive) which cost 99 cents each.
Farewell..
On 4th October, I sold it to my loyal customer Mr Erwan for Rm2200 with case. Balik modal and cheaper compared to others without contract. Iphone 4 is good and cheaper compared to previous versions but I dont like the chrome design and its too expensive for me. Hilang mampos Rm2100 tuh. Cukuplah testing for a week. I think I learn a lot during the first week of using it.This is by far the most expensive toy I ever had my hands on. Its RM950 more expensive than my prev BB.
