Penang 1 day backpacking

Start from Butterworth bus station. Take a ferry to the island. Rm1.20. Enjoy the sea breeze. Journey will only take about 20 minutes.

Arrive at Port Weld. Take a bus at the bus depoh. You can go practically anywhere by bus. Theres even a free shuttle bus that go round georgetown. I walk a few kilometers and getting lost. I check a few budget hotel but they are not cheap. Settle for Tune Hotel- The no frill hotel. Basic room rate plus admin fee is about RM67. Room is spacey with queen bed but no windows. I add rm13 for 12 hours aircond and rent a towel and basic shower kits for rm5. Total about Rm85. Not bad . First night I eat at new world near the tune hotel. Try the Korean BBQ Chicken for Rm25.

Morning. Try to walk to nowhere. Then I board a bus to Bukit Bendera. Unfortunately it is closed for renovation until this October. Wasting my time, energy and money since no one told me that. I took the same bus and return to Jetty. I took a bus to Batu Ferrighi and stop somewhere I didnt know. I had to walk on the scary small road with trailers, busses and all. Very dangerous. Finally I found the first public beach. Pantai Miami. I drink some coconut and char kueh tiaw that is bad. I board a bus to Komtar. On my way there I saw other public beach - Pantai Shamrock, masjid terapung near tanjung bugah, NZ Hotel and also the toy museum and a cool melody tadika that had ultraman as mascot.

Komtar is dying. Its like City Plaza Alor Setar to me. After exploring the mall I take a free shuttle bus to Padang Kota. I walk there to find the best pasembur in town but to no avail. Then I saw the old Fort Conwellis. I take the stairs to the top. Very gayat when I want to descent the stairs back to the bottom. I walk to the Jetty and its very hot. I board the ferry, and now its free. Arrive Butterworth at 4.30. Took a bus to KL. Next time I might want to check other malls like Perangin Mall and the nasi kandar beratur bukak 10 malam.
